Hi Everyone,
My name is Nimue Garvai and I’ve signed up for a new homesteading project called the Legacy Challenge. Here I am starting out in my new home. As you can see it started out empty except for the apple tree that will represent my family’s legacy for generations to come.
I chose an apple tree because my life’s ambition is to be an Education Minister. I know the apple seems like a bit of a stereotype, but it also seemed like a fitting symbol of my hopes and dreams.
The first thing I did was travel to the nearby city and scope out the local prospects. I soon met Shea Boyle. I found him very attractive. Sadly he’s a counterfeiter, but you can’t have everything. He’s creative and employed, sort of. Anyway we went on several dates. They went very well. So well I was able to request an Energizer and a Money Tree from the mysterious Shalott Consortium who is running this challenge. As a result I was able to go to my first day of work in a good mood despite my lack of a house and was quickly promoted to Teacher’s Aide.
Between my pay, the money tree and selling the bouquet’s Shea brought me after our date; sorry Shea, I treasure them, but at the moment I have very little and I have to be practical; I was able to purchase a chess board a book case and a single wall with a phone and a mirror. This should enable me to develop the skills to continue to advance in my career.
That night Shea dropped by and left an Electro-Dance Sphere by the mailbox. It sold for a substantial amount of money.
The next day as I was starting my work as a Teacher’s Aide I was taking the role sheets to the front office just after the morning announcements when a mother burst in demanding I not turn in the role sheet. She was afraid that her son would have to repeat the grade for being tardy, but she felt this was her fault. I considered the matter but I turned in the role sheet and let the principle address the matter with the parent. She was pleased with my diligence and was able to resolve the matter with the family. She promoted me to Substitute Teacher. With my promotion money I promptly purchased a car and drove back to work for the rest of the day. I was called in to substitute for Ms. Moorington, who is the 3 time winner of “Teacher of the Year” I was a bit intimidated, and then I was shocked to be literally pulling children off the ceiling. It seems she never actually taught anything. She bribed the children with candy and falsified their report cards. Despite the risk of going against a teacher with such influence I boldly revealed her scheme to the authorities and was promoted to Elementary School Teacher. One of my colleagues even came to visit me at “home.” Her name is Samantha Ottomas. She was very supportive and the next day I was promoted to High School Teacher.
On Friday it was Spirit Day. I was being evaluated by the School Board but decided to dress for spirit day anyway. The board was impressed and I was assigned to be a guest lecturer at the local university. I used the money to purchase a small venue for the locals to gather. It wasn’t much, but it was a place to garden play chess and meet Shea for dates. I charged a nominal fee for entry and I won a couple of local business awards.
With the money from work, my business and the gifts my friends keep dropping by I was able to start to build a modest house where I could work out and develop my physical fitness..
I wonder what the next week will bring.
